Palo Alto Pop Overthrow

Hooks and Harmonies, every Monday from 6-7PM PT/9-10PM ET on KZSU Stanford

Pas/Cal: "I Was Raised on Matthew, Mark, Luke, and Laura" [featured album]

Before we get underway, this is Zan and Blanch here and we will be Phil's "minions" for the next few weeks on KZSU 90.1. Assume any gaffes are our responsibility and be sure to tune in on Thursday mornings from 7-9AM!

Now, onto Pas/Cal! This Detroit-based band spent nearly all of 2007 in the studio putting together this album with a "smart," and "subversive" sound. Phil describes the album as musical ADHD; it's packed full of twists and turns of melody and harmony without a chorus in sight.
This album in one listen: "O Honey We're Ridiculous"

Favorite tracks: 2. You Were Too Old for Me, 5. Glorious Ballad of the Ignored, 6. O Honey We're Ridiculous, 3. Summer is Almost Here

Label: Le Grand Magsistery
RIYL:
Belle & Sebastian, *Dan Bejar*/Destroyer, The New Pornographers, The Scotland Yard Gospel Choir, Donovan, Queen, The Darkness

Zan & Blanch, I tuned in to PAPO this morning on the East coast. Just finished reading your blog. Zan, nice "shout out" to Doug. Blanch, you sound good on the air. Good luck to both of you and I'll look for your shows in the future.
